OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY
Occupational Therapy actually encompasses a wide range of therapies and activities, from basic hygiene and dressing to money and time management. At Eisenhower, we provide an environment and opportunity for clients to learn and practice independent living skills, along with trained professionals to facilitate the process. We take a holistic approach, using hands-on therapy and making the most of our surroundings to support success.
Basic self-care skills include grooming and dressing, use of equipment, safety, problem-solving, attention span, work tolerance, functional mobility, and communication. In Instrumental Self-Care, we may work with clients to improve their housekeeping, organization, shopping, and money and time management. In Advanced Care, we move on to developing transportation, using community resources, even parenting.
Of course, as with all our services, we make sure that occupational therapies are integrated into the full range of rehabilitation, and are appropriate for the individuals involved.
